Since she was born, RUFFNUS has been captivated by the entrancing power of music. Developmental milestones such as walking and talking were met to tunes such as Meatloaf’s “I Won’t Do That,” They Might Be Giants’s “Istanbul,” and really everything by Raffi. At the age of 3, she took violin and piano lessons. Inspired by Lisa Simpson (The Simpsons) and Tiny Kong (Donkey Kong 64), RUFFNUS chose to learn the alto saxophone at the age of 10 and then primarily played tenor saxophone throughout her lifetime. After hearing “Helena” by My Chemical Romance and after mistakenly receiving Good Charlotte’s album “Chronicles of Life and Death” at the age of 12, RUFFNUS began her songwriting career by filling up notebooks with lyrics and taking up guitar and drumset lessons.
