Malf began his musical career at the age of 12 by playing trombone in the school brass band. By the time of leaving he had already joined the senior version of the school band named ‘Rhodian Brass’, touring venues across England and Wales and consequently playing on the LP record, entitled ‘The Sound Of Rhodian Brass’. Since those heady days of brass he took up the guitar and started to sing, fronting numerous bands and acoustic duo’s along the way. By the mid 90’s, he formed his own band ‘The Custard Garage’ playing his own material and playing all around the North Of England.
