Based out of Southern California, Thrift is characterized by noisy garage rock tones mixed with pulsating rhythms and powerhouse vocals. Labeled as “a sonic inferno opus packed with passion,” the band aims to captivate audiences and listeners with their easily distinguishable sound (Chuck Taylor, Billboard). Anna Carmela (bass and vocals) refers to the style of their music as "dirty disco," or in other words, garage-rock-meets-pop. Carmela, being the sole writer of Thrift, along with producer, Brent Setterington, seek to grip audiences and listeners alike with the in-your-face production style, lead vocal intensity, and wailing bass and guitar hooks. Inspired by artists ranging from Bessie Smith to Nine Inch Nails, Carmela’s creative spectrum is broad, complex, and influenced by all genres. Contrasting this, Carmela’s solo work, under the moniker "blush dove," incorporates blues vocals and dramatic instrumentals.
