Mehrooz Waseem is a singer-songwriter based in Islamabad, Pakistan. She is self-taught in singing-songwriting, but trained as a guitarist under the auspices of Shahid Ali Nashad, son of music director, Nashad. She released her debut single "Californication" which was produced in collaboration with Brazilian guitarist, Igor Cintra, in the year 2007. It peaked at #4 in its subgenre on SoundClick. Following this, she released her original song "Free" produced in collaboration with a local progressive metal band, Atrum Animus. It peaked at #7 in it's subgenre. Its Urdu version, "Azaad" produced by Sarmad Ghafoor was released across several major local and international music platforms later in the year 2016. It gained widespread popularity, making it to the top new releases chart on Patari. She has also been widely interviewed in the media following its release. She also writes poetry and does voice-overs.
