For The Kings is a country blues band that combines Muscle Shoals with Outlaw Country. Based in Los Angeles, founding members Josh Bond and Neal Marsh continue to build upon their debut album released in 2010 with their latest 3-song EP "The Band Played On" produced by Aleks Urbaniak, better known as Bleeding Denim. The band’s classic, yet modern, sound will surely endear fans of Waylon Jennings and The Rolling Stones, as well as fans of Sturgill Simpson and the Black Keys, with Marsh’s blues rock guitar playing accompanying Bond’s soulful and twangy, Mississippi bred vocal. Recorded on analog in a setting to embody their live sound, the EP kicks off with "Lying Eyes”, a super catchy song that would find a home in any honky tonk with an infectious hook calling out a cheating lover that will keep you humming along to the melody long after the song ends. The gospel and country infused "When The Lord Don't Comfort Me" follows with a reflection on loss and a search for closure reminiscent of any modern or classic country ballad. The closer, "When The Band Played On”, draws the listener into the trenches of a pre 20th century battlefield, reliving a soldier’s journey to survive while surrounded by chaos and death.
