Simon grew up in France, constantly surrounded by music and art. He paid a particular interest towards the drums from a very early age and got his first kit at only 2 years old! He comes from a very creative family as his father is an amateur artist, painter, guitar player and songwriter who played many gigs on the local scene with Simon’s mother on bass. At 6 years old, Simon was already gigging regularly and rehearsing every night after school in his dad’s band. He soon started playing in the school’s orchestra and other jazz, rock and cover bands where he developed his skill to be able to play in various styles. After a few years of constant practice and dedication to the instrument Simon’s abilities were noticed by his drum teacher at the time, Gerard Munoz, who advised him to get lessons from drummer and inventor Jean Francois Miguel. When Simon was 14, Jean Francois gave him the amazing opportunity to open for his drum festival (Festival TAM-TAM in Montluçon, France), with esteemed drummers such as Thomas Lang, Walfredo Reyes Jr. and Dirk Brandt featuring on the bill. This exposure led to interest from companies Mapex Drums and Meinl cymbals and soon, Simon became their youngest European endorsee in 2005. He then started performing in many drum clinics and drum festivals all over France and Germany, sharing the bill with international drummers such as Gregg Bissonette, Cindy Blackman, Carmine Appice and more. At age 17, having obtained his “Baccalaureat” (diploma) in France, Simon was offered a scholarship to study at Tech Music School in London. Simon seized this amazing opportunity and moved to England to pursue his dream of becoming a professional drummer. After a few months of learning new skills from the great teachers at Drumtech, Simon auditioned and got his first “proper gig” becoming the house drummer for the Pop Hit factory “Xenomania records”. He played for many of their artists including Mini Viva, Florrie Arnold, Nightvision and Alex Gardner and subsequently embarked on many UK tours, in theatres as well as arenas, supporting acts like Paolo Nutini, One Republic, Scouting for Girls, Leona Lewis, and Whitney Houston. Simon is now one of the go to guys on the session circuit and has been lucky and proud to have worked with many different artists such as the Pet Shop Boys, Birdy, Jason Derulo, Gloria Gaynor, Christophe Willem, Taio Cruz, Tinchy Stryder, Charlie XCX, Ella Henderson even a promo gig with the world famous One Direction! When Simon is not on tour, he pursues his other passion of song writing and producing.
