The Piqued Jacks are a passionate and polychromatic alt/funk-rock band of brothers from Italy, with a tight and highly captivating live show. They opened for Interpol the “El Pintor” world tour, won “The Freshmen” competition by MTV, which spun their “Romantic Soldier” video on mtvU for six weeks, and the Best Live Band contests of the Marea and MusicaW festivals. The guys have methodically made their way from the small Buggiano to Austin, TX, where they played during SXSW in 2013, 2014 and 2015. Their latest release is “Aerial Roots” (Feb 2016), the acoustic version of their first full-length album “Climb Like Ivy Does” (Jan 2015): intrusive riffs, solid storytelling and “a sound that is missing from the mainstream” (Stencil Mag UK). In Spring of 2015 their independent “Atlas Tour” travelled across the US for three months (12 States, 30 cities, 45 shows) and now continues in Italy while looking forward to hit the UK and Europe. In the past years the Piqued Jacks received attention from Matt Noveskey of Blue October, played guest appearances before Atoms For Peace, Bob Schneider and Il Teatro Degli Orrori, have been featured on CMJ Network, Balcony TV, Earmilk, Jamsphere UK and broadcasted on Italian airwaves such as Rai 1, Rai 2, Radio Rai 1, Italia 2. In 2013 they published the “Just a Machine” EP, produced in Los Angeles by the Grammy Nominated producer Brian Lanese. After this release the guys moved to Austin and toured Texas for five months (10 cities, 50 shows), while their music was on college radios all across the US. The band was born in 2006 from a lifelong friendship, when the clumsy bassist crashed his bass on the ground, bending the jack in the input. Once pulled out, it looked like a boner. What else could explain their genuineness better? So “Piqued” stands for “viscerally interested in music”. They're also passionate about Nature, too. They have always supported ecological themes, and have an annual spiritual retreat in an old house in the Tuscan countryside. Many of their works grow up there.
