Janine Olivia is an indie-pop singer/songwriter from Flemington, New Jersey. With just her voice, piano, and ukulele, she is capable of crafting wholesome compositions that are as cathartic as they are catchy. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Janine's passion for songwriting began at just five years old when she wrote her first song, and she has continued to develop her craft to this day. Her classical training began in childhood and continued throughout her high school and college years, as she participated in and led various chorales and acapella groups. Now a multi-instrumentalist, Janine is an accomplished pianist, vocalist, and ukulelist. She has also earned her Master’s Degree in Education from Drew University and outside of her musical pursuits, teaches special education and music to children in the NJ area. Among the various YouTube uploads of her stripped-down original songs is “The Sound in the Sky.” It is a passionate, uplifting indicator of her artistic potential, suitably accompanied by her beautiful, natural outdoor surroundings. This video performance found its way to Elise Music Group, an independent label based in Stamford, Connecticut, who signed Janine on for a development deal in late 2018. Now uplifted to the artist roster, Janine has released her debut single “Twitches and Hives,” with a full EP to follow in Summer 2019.
