"When you think that all is fine, you just wait and give it time" Wilmer Stridsberg sings as he pulls you into the dystopian love serenade that is the single C'est La Vie. A gateway song to what is nothing but an infectious, disturbing and delightful melodic and lyrical journey through Vanilla Waves debut album, Good Times Are Coming?
The band swirls genres such as spaghetti-western, garage rock, soul and surf into a bombastic and hook-filled sound. One can hear the clear influences of bands such as The Beach Boys, The Beatles and Lotion, put in a blender filled with tequila, synthesizers and the brains of Ennio Morricone.
The band was formed by the fellow Swedes Axel Fransson and Wilmer Stridsberg, who during the boiling summer of 2017 co-slaved in a substandard restaurant in central London. The duo decided to hang up their knives and pick up their axes instead. After an intense month of songwriting they reached their long-time friends Tille Tequila and Hockey Travolta, who joined in on drums and bass.
The record also featured Blues Pills guitarist Dorian Sorriaux, who plays the solo on "Procrastination", as well as the multi-talented André Rannek och keys and saxophone. The album was mixed and mastered by Stefan Kvarnström.
