From prolific contributions in dance music as a DJ/producer/remixer to his composition for visual media, consultation for creative brand initiatives and the formation of the first all-electronic music licensing co, Nathan Hayes’ sustained achievements as both a creator and entrepreneur in the independent and commercial music markets have provided a unique skill set in the rapidly evolving industry landscape.
Beginning his professional career as a DJ/Producer in 2000, His prolific output gained the attention of countless international imprints exposing him to the worldwide audience of dance music. Touring, record releases, and global radio play became standard. In 2006, he co-founded Westbay Music which became a mainstay imprint in the bass music community and introduced many of dance music’s now well-known artists to the marketplace.
After a move to LA in 2008; he took an administrative role at MTV shifting his career path and acquiring skills in publishing, synchronization and music rights. As music production continued to play a role in his daily life, his high output and out-of-the-box approach gave way to a wide array of creative exposure. Music placement, custom scores for T.V., film, and other visual media became recurrent.
As dance music crossed into the mainstream, Nathan’s roots and relationships played a pivotal role in his next move. In 2013 he launched Spaceweight Music, the first licensing agency dedicated solely to electronica. The creation of Spaceweight showcased Nathan’s ability to recognize trends in future music and merge those with the changing terrain of the music industry.
Along with his endeavors in mainstream production, Hayes continues his creative love for music expression releasing house music records under the moniker Jamie Prado, bass music as Atlantic Connection, production, and custom for a wealth of media companies while constantly expanding his creative entrepreneurial palate.
