Paul Brian Bell could play the piano before he could read words. His early childhood he spent focused on classical music and playing recitals.
1994-2001 saw Paul as a founding member of the San Diego based all original blues rock band, "The Last Exit Band". who released a studio album: "Down This Road", in 2001.
He was the main keyboard player and vocalist for Grateful Dead tribute, The Electric Waste Band from 1995-1997, and again from 1998-2013.
Paul's own songwriting has a Floyd-meets-Dead quality. 'Hourglass', released in 2007, features very personal lyrics and vocals by Bell, as well as guest bass player from EWB, Andrew Lantz, and former band-mate from Last Exit Band, Kent Stephens, lending lyrics to the song "Newborn Nation." There is also a hidden track on Hourglass. A cover of Pink Floyd's Arnold Layne closes out the album, with guests Ed Fletcher and Andrew Lantz of EWB.
Paul's single "Northbound Runnin', Features lyrics adapted with permission from a poem titled "Women in White", from The Grateful Dead's own lyricist Robert Hunter.
