After developing an interest in the piano at the age of 13 and studying privately with a student of the legendary jazz great, Lenny Tristano, I studied classical music theory for four years in high school and continued this training at Five Towns College majoring in composition and piano.
During this time, I also developed an interest in the guitar and began playing with several local club bands while being heavily influenced by "progressive" rock groups such as Yes, Kansas, Genesis and Todd Rundgren (Utopia) among others.
Through my late teens and early twenties, I played keyboards and guitar with a variety of rock, dance, club-date and wedding bands while constantly maintaining a substantial interest in composition.
After years of being frustrated by the inability of bands I worked with to pursue original material and limited financial means, I chose to pursue other avenues to provide income while maintaining an active interest in writing and recording.
In the early to mid 90s, I entered into a partnership in a MIDI recording studio located in "The Music Building" In Jamaica, Queens, New York. During this period, I was focused on trying to break through as a songwriter/publisher with the enlistment of a music business attorney. The material produced during this time is featured on two recently released EP CDs entitled "Darryl C." and "Christa", named after the two wonderfully talented vocalists featured.
The studio partnership was abandoned around the year 2000 and I purchased additional equipment to continue recording in a home studio which has grown over the years as technology has advanced into a substantial computer based MIDI studio.
I released my first CD, "The Turning Around" In 2002 which featured some more progressive material as well as some more obscure (less commercial) compositions.
My second and latest CD released in 2016 and simply entitled "Cos" includes more of the same. A rather eclectic collection of material in a wide variety of styles.
