James’s interest in cinematic/soundtrack music began when he was about 10 years old while playing The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. It was also around this time that he began to learn how to play the guitar (he had refused to learn the piano a few years prior to this after throwing a tantrum during his first lesson and didn’t pick it up again for several years).
During school James played with a number of groups, including jazz ensembles, the school’s big band, rock bands and a funk band. He began writing progressive rock music at the age of 18. He occasionally plays around the local pubs in his hometown Hobart, Australia with a couple of prog rock bands. However, for the last year or so he has shifted the focus of his writing towards cinematic music, combining orchestral and choral elements with electronic music and heavy guitars.
