Gary Laney is a recording engineer, producer, musician, songwriter, and mentor for many. After 18 years as Manager and Chief Engineer at Nashville's prestigious Sound Emporium Recording Studios, Gary returned to his hometown, San Angelo, Texas. It wasn’t long before the word got out and Gary was once again involved in music. Gary co-founded 10Acious Music in 2011, focusing on music for film, television. In 2018 he open his new world-class Nautilus Studio.
Gary’s credentials are impressive. He recorded albums for Keith Whitley, Trisha Yearwood, Texas Tornados, REM, Al Kooper, Don Williams , Alan Jackson, Green On Red, Amazing Rhythm Aces, New Grass Revival and Jason & The Scorchers to name a few. His work has won many major awards, including a Grammy and several CMA’s.
Gary has a knack for finding folks with talent and desire and working with them as they develop themselves. Because of Gary, local singer-songwriters now have well-received CD’s that would not have happened had Gary not taken them under his wing. Additionally, Gary is currently working with a punk-rock band, a metal band, a soulful singer, a country band, and several singer/songwriters, all illustrative of his versatility. He maintains contacts with Nashville studio musicians as needed.
In a very short time, Gary has made a huge contribution to the music community in the San Angelo area. It is easy to see why he was so successful in Nashville. He loves music, loves working with motivated people, and loves seeing them achieve more than they thought they could.
