Alex Kurbanov

About

Alexey E. Kurbanov was born in Novgorod in 1971. He graduated from Rachmaninoff Music School in Novgorod and Secondary Special Music School-College attached to Leningrad Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatoire. In 1995 he graduated with honours from St. Petersburg Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatoire. In 1999 he finished his post-graduate course there, in March 2000 maintained his Ph. D. candidate. In 1993 - 1994 he was an exchange student in Rotterdams Conservatorium (Holland). He is an author of about 180 compositions for piano, organ, choir, div. instruments / chamber ensembles, etc. Since April 2000 Alex lives and works in Aure (Møre and Romsdal, Norway). He is a church organist and organ / piano teacher there. He takes an active part in musical and other local cultural life. In February, 2010 he is awarded the Culture Prize from Aure Municipality for the year 2009.
